As my graduation date draws near, people have been asking me the normal
“almost graduate” questions like “How do you feel about graduating?”, “What are you going to do after you graduate?” and “Do you have a job lined up yet?” I always laugh and share my standard reply of “That’s the million dollar (or $237,568) question!” But in reality, the concept of no longer going to school or being here in the comfortable town of Chestertown hasn’t really hit me yet. Maybe it is because the fast pace of school, the extracurriculars during the week and weekend excitement has kept me from really taking a moment to realize that freshman year was three years ago.
As I look back on my time here at Washington College, I can genuinely say that I’ve loved my WAC experience. Every mistake or time I thought I wasn’t going to make it to graduation got me here at my final finals week and only a couple weeks away from graduation. If I could tell my freshman self anything, it would be to not take myself so seriously and take every opportunity that comes my way. Life is hard sometimes and balancing classes, friends, clubs, relationships and everything in between seem to be overwhelming. But all of these things that happen in your life and at Washington College have made you who you are today. Strong. Fierce. Hardworking. Dedicated. And a force to be reckoned with!
Life begins at the edge of your comfort zone, so get uncomfortable and see where you will go in this world. Your future will thank you.
