If you ask anybody to describe Bridget McLaughlin, they will tell you what a hilarious, fun girl she is! Bridget is a sophomore business management major with a minor in economics and marketing from Newark, Delaware. Along with her academics, Bridget is on the basketball team, water sports club, and plays and works for the intramural leagues!
After two years at WAC, Bridget said “It’s hard to narrow down my favorite memories of my time here at WAC so far because there have been so many!” She said that some of the best memories so far “are with my basketball team, on and off the court. Birthday ball, in my opinion, the best day of the year and such a cool event the school puts on for us. My best memories, whether they are on campus, off campus, on the weekday or weekend, they have all been the best because of the people involved. The people I’ve met here at WAC have been some of the nicest, friendliest and greatest people I have ever met in my life. I honestly couldn’t imagine my life without the people I have met here. I always just ignored it when people said you would meet your lifelong friends in college, but now I completely understand what they meant, the people I have met here I know will be some of my best and lifelong friends.”
As her sophomore year is coming to a close, Bridget will be considered an upperclassman next year. I asked Bridget how WAC shaped her as a person. “WAC has completely changed me as a person and for the better. After my senior year of high school, I did not want to go to college, but I knew I should” said Bridget, “My whole life I wanted to play basketball in college and at Washington College I had the opportunity to do so. So, I took a leap of faith and went to college. And now I would definitely consider the decision to come to Washington College the best decision of my life. Coming to college made me more independent than I ever thought I could be. I used to be more reserved and shy and college completely changed that. I have met the greatest people and have had the most amazing opportunities and experiences here at WAC, so I’m forever grateful to WAC for that. I still have 2 more years left and I can’t wait for all the opportunities and memories that are yet to come.”
For her last two years at WAC, the best advice she would give incoming students would be “to just completely take advantage of the college experience, take advantage of every opportunity, branch out and make friends with everyone and just enjoy this time because it goes by faster than you think.” Fun fact about Bridget is that she has a twin brother! Can you imagine not one but TWO amazing, hysterically funny Bridget’s? Get ready WAC if he comes to visit! Say hello to Bridget on campus and get ready to laugh with incredible girl!
