Tomorrow, sophomores all over campus will journey over to the Career Center on Saturday for a day filled with workshops and guest speakers. Andrew Berry, sophomore class president, is helping to spear head the project.
“While SOAR has been around for few years now, this year the career center did a total overhaul of the programs. They did a lot of hard work this semester so that it will better benefit the sophomore class, but part of what they needed to be sure that the student perspective.”
The event is supposed to be an opportunity for the sophomores to jump their networking skills by talking to alumni as well as the employees of the career center.
“SOAR this year hopes to serve two main purposes. The first purpose of SOAR is to help sophomores who seem a little lost when it comes to career planning,” Berry said.
“With around 13 alumni from different professions, the networking opportunities with alumni. In such a competitive job market, it’s the personal connections that we make that help ensure we can secure a job after college.”
