Rupi Kaur, author of Milk and Honey, recently released her up and coming novel The Sun and Her Flowers. Many excited readers were ready to click the order button on Amazon the moment it released.
I read Milk and Honey about six months ago and fell in love with it. I was constantly reading it over and over until I heard that there would be another publication. Then came the anticipation of waiting for my copy to come in the mail. Weeks went by and then came the notification that I had a package from Amazon. Immediately opening my package, I was excited to see that this novel was much longer than the last. Something I didn’t like about Milk and Honey was that it wasn’t long enough. I felt that there could’ve been more added to each section.
Sitting on our common room couch with a cup of tea and blanket and cracked open the newest edition to my little library. What I love most about Rupi Kaur’s writing is the simplicity and power her poems hold. Not only are they completely relatable but they also make you take a step back and evaluate various moments in your own life that have impacted you. The Sun and Her Flowers is filled with poems dedicated to growth, love, family, and going on a journey of change. I was incredibly impressed with this novel and have told almost all my friends about it.
If you haven’t read either of these novels, ask a friend for a copy or purchase one of your very own!
