Start of a New Year!

Today was the first day of Bootcamp for our newest editors of The Elm this year and we couldn’t have had a better start! Starting off at the Rose O’Neill Literary House, editors gathered to catch up over donuts and coffee about their summer adventures, internships, and the up coming year. Many of our editors this year also have various job positions around campus such as being RAs, holding positions in the Media Relations Office as well as the Campus Events office, and The Collegian. While many of them juggle different training sessions this week, editors at The Elm are having workshops with speakers such as Jerry Roderick, Sue Golinski, Professor Eanes, Dan Divilio from The Kent County News, alum Emma Way ’16, Allison Billmire, Professor Hall, and Professor McIntire. All of our editors are so excited to bring new stories to campus after learning new tips and receiving great advice. We even had the chance to walk out on the Campus Green to watch the solar eclipse unfold which was so much fun!

This is also a week of introductions for the newest staff members so today will be kicked off by me! My name is Savannah Masterson and I am the Social Media Editor! I am a sophomore studying English and Political Science and I also work in the Campus Events office. Last year I was a staff blogger and loved it so much that I knew I wanted to continue blogging for The Leaf! This year I have so many fun ideas for the blog that I cannot wait to share. There is even a very big surprise that will be revealed very shortly! I can’t wait to bring fun, creative posts as the newest Social Media Editor. Be on the lookout for exciting themes, announcements, recaps, and much more!
