This Sunday, sisters of Alpha Chi Omega along with help from the brothers of Theta Chi are coming together to raise awareness about sexual assault. Open to the public and the school, participants will walk a whole mile to spread the word about April being Sexual Awareness Month. According to rainn.org, on average 321,500 women age 12 and older are sexually assaulted. This happens every 98 seconds in the United States. With such a strong response program here at Washington College, this fundraiser only spreads more awareness on the issue that affects so many people. The Prevention, Education, and Advocacy center provide a safe space for students affected by sexual assault.
For those of you who wish to participate, Alpha Chi will be having a table set up in Hodson in front of the egg to help students register for the event. Registration is $10 and if you can’t get to a table in Hodson, the registration link is on the Facebook page for this event. Not all men are required to wear the red shoes if they don’t want to. Even if you decide to not participate in the walk, there’s still an opportunity to make a donation. Many students who participated last year had a great time supporting a great cause. Take some time out of your Sunday and go out to support something that impacts more people than you think. For more information visit, https://www.facebook.com/events/960953820674916/
