Summer time is right around the corner. We are in the homestretch of the semester, which means soon we will be packing up our dorms and heading home for a few months of relaxation. The summer is a great time to rest but three months can be a long time to do a whole lot of nothing. If you don’t already have one, it might be a good idea to look into getting a summer job. Need some ideas?
Food service – Waiting tables is a great way to work on your people skills. Working at a busy restaurant is also a way to keep your mind stimulated throughout the summer. With an hourly wage plus tips, you can make a pretty good amount of money in just a few months.
Dog walking – If you are an animal lover, what better way to spend your summer than playing with dogs. This would be a great addition to another job to bring in some extra cash because it does not take up too much time.
Camp counselor – Tons of summer camps are looking to hire new staff for the upcoming summer. Camp is a way to get outdoors, have some fun, and learn a great deal of leadership skills.
Tutor – Now that you have at least one year of college education under your belt, you could get a job at a summer tutoring center. Helping others in a subject you excel in will not only benefit them but it will also keep your mind sharp while away from school.
Volunteering – If you cannot find a job or internship for the summer, you can always occupy your time by volunteering. Help out at your local animal shelter, participate in a beach cleanup, or find another way to donate some of your free time to the greater good.
Whatever you choose to do this summer, have fun and get some well-deserved relaxation. It has a long semester of hard work and you deserve to make some money and have fun!
