Get ready to walk for a cause because Relay for Life is tomorrow! Come out to the Johnson Fitness Center Field House tomorrow night to support the American Cancer Society in raising money and awareness. If this is your first year attending Relay, it is a very fun event. Clubs on campus sign up to have tables all across the Field House. Each club supports the cause in their own way, some having games or activities to raise more money. If you are not part of a club, you can still come and join in on the fun.
This year, Relay is a little different than what we are used to. The entire event, which usually lasts 12 hours, will now only be 6 hours. Brooke Burghardt, President of Relay for Life at WAC, told me that she is really looking forward to tomorrow night. She said, “I’m the one who implemented the change so I like it. I feel like in the past, we were just standing around waiting for things to happen.” This year, things will be much more efficient. She told me that rather than having one activity every hour, they will each last about 15 minutes.
Not much change has come to Relay. You can expect the same fun games and activities, just in a much more condensed amount of time. That way, you do not have to be so exhausted on Saturday but still know you supported a great cause. Come on out and walk for Relay tomorrow night from 7pm to 1am.
