Yesterday started Fraternity Rush! The men from the four fraternities on campus gathered together to meet those interested in becoming part of a fraternity. The fraternities here at WAC are Kappa Alpha, Kappa Sigma, Phi Delta Theta, and Theta Chi. The members of these fraternities strive for academic achievement and do many philanthropic events. If you want to learn a bit more about each fraternity, here is a summary about each one.
Kappa Alpha: They are the oldest fraternity on the Washington College campus. The members live in the Quad in Talbot House. KA’s philanthropy is the Muscular Dystrophy Association and they do many events to raise money for it. You will see these men around campus participating in many intramural sports and having a great time.
Kappa Sigma: This fraternity is the largest in the world and the members live in the Quad in Dorchester House here on campus. Kappa Sig raises money for two national causes: The Prostate Cancer Foundation and the Military Heroes Campaign. You will see these men hanging out on their pouch at Dorchester and also being involved in many other clubs.
Phi Delta Theta: The brothers of Phi Delta live in the Quad in Cecil House. Their philanthropy is the ALS Association. Some of there big events they host to support this philanthropy is the Annual Crab Feast during Fall Family Weekend. You will see these men actively hanging out and playing lawn games in the quad.
Theta Chi: This fraternity is the 7th largest fraternity. These men do not have a house on campus but often room together in suites. The philanthropy Theta supports is the USO, which provides support for veterans and their families. This is a great group of men who cannot wait to get new members.
Hopefully this gave you some insight about each fraternity. Good luck making your decision!
