Last year's comedian was a hit!
Last year’s comedian was a hit!

This week is one of the best weeks at Washington College. It’s Comedy Week! Throughout the week there will be several hilarious events to brighten our rainy days. Events this week include a movie, a student comedy competition, “Whose Line is it Anyway” sketches, a drag ball brought to us by EROS, and a comedian at the end of the week.

Tonight in the Norman James Theatre, SEB is showing Trainwreck. This move is a great way to get ready for the rest of Comedy Week because it is hilarious. Amy Schumer plays a magazine writer who does not believe in commitment. She has to interview a sports doctor, played by Bill Hader, for an article and begins to fall for him. The movie follows Amy as she hysterically tries to figure out if she is fit for a relationship.

Amy Schumer has quickly become popular for her straightforward comedy about real life. This definitely carries through into Trainwreck. Her honesty makes this film extremely relatable. There are also some amazing cameos from Lebron James, John Cena, and Daniel Radcliffe. So bring out your friends to the Norman James Theatre in Smith Hall and enjoy movie night on a big screen. There will also be popcorn and drinks provided.

Don’t forget about the other events this week! Improv and stand-up will be in the Egg. This year’s Comedy Week headliner will be Derrick Knopsnyder. By Friday we will all be laughing with excitement. The big ending to Comedy Week will be in Decker Theatre at 7 pm. Get ready for some the most hilarious week of your life!
