The campus is slowly turning purple in preparation for Relay For Life. If you look around you’ll notice ribbons, streamers, balloons, and posters. This Saturday night, the campus will come together to raise money and awareness for the American Cancer Society. Relay is a fundraising walk where members of teams take turns walking around the track. The whole night lasts from 7 pm to 7 am. There are events scheduled all throughout the night to keep you awake and active. Relay For Life is a great way to spend time with the WAC community and it is all for a good cause.
If this is your first time going to Relay, it can be a little overwhelming or intimidating. There are a lot of people and events, but remember to be respectful and supportive of others. Relay can be emotional at times because cancer has affected so many people.
Be sure to wear sensible shoes because you will be doing a lot of walking. There will also be a Zumba class to keep you moving. Join in on the fun and play games, walk with your friends, and cheer on all the events. You should also try to stay all night!
Relay events include: Opening ceremony, kids games, Locks for Love, Luminaira ceremony, ShoTroupe and WACapella performances, Zumba, musical chairs, Buy a Phi, Miss Relay pageant, a burrito eating contest, and so much more. Relay For Life is a really fun event, which supports an amazing cause, so come out to the JFC this Saturday night and show your support!
