Thrilling Thursday: WAC Facts

For those of you who may not know, Washington College is a special school. It was established in 1782 and was at first called the “College at Chester”; however George Washington, our wonderful first president, gave the school 50 guineas, served on the Board of Visitors and Governors, and officially gave the school permission to use his name for the college’s namesake. When he became the first president of the United States, he was given an honorary degree from Washington College and became an alumnus. How many schools can say that George Washington is an alumnus of their establishment? Not very many. This must mean Georgie loved us just as much as we love him!

Thy Humble Leaf,

Kayla Kyle
